What is a termite bond?

It is a form of insurance that protects against future Subterranean, Formosan or Drywood termite infestations.

What is the difference between a service bond and a repair bond?

A service bond provides retreatment only and a repair bond provides retreatment and repairs as a result of reinfestation.

Does a repair bond cover existing damage?

No.

Does homeowner’s insurance cover termite infestations or bonds?

No.

How long before you notice the termites are completely gone?

Generally it takes 4-6 weeks but guaranteed within 90 days using Termidor. (see brochure)

Do the technicians need to get inside the house to treat?

Usually the work is performed on the exterior of the house although some interior plumbing access areas may also need treatment.

If I already have an existing termite bond and am not happy with the service will The Pest Detective take over the bond?

Normally yes, however each structure will require a treatment that meets our standards and the cost is minimal, comparatively.

Are the materials used harmful to pets or children? Are there any odors?

No.

How long is the bond effective?

As long as the service is maintained annually, which normally includes annual inspections and renewal fees, the bond remains in effect. However, most companies put a term limit on their contracts, whereas The Pest Detective, Inc. maintains your bond forever.

What if I get termites while I’m under bond?

Contact your termite company. A re-treatment is the minimum you should receive.

What is a WDO report?

Wood-Destroying Organisms damage and re-infest seasoned wood. Specifically, termites, some beetles and wood decay fungi. The report is mandated and regulated by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DACS) as defined in Florida Statutes. Its purpose is to provide homeowners, prospective and existing, a means of determining whether or not a home is currently infested. We have the capability to email the WDO report immediately following the inspection and we also have NEFAR lockbox keys to save you valuable time. We only need the CBS code from the Listing Agent and if you cannot locate the code, NEFAR will gladly give it to you. They can be reached at 394-9494 ext. 1208.

We’ve closed on our house and just noticed some additional WDO issues that weren’t identified and/ or corrected. Who is responsible?

The person who performed the WDO inspection but DACS can, and will, intervene if necessary. We always recommend contacting the company first for answers.

Why should I trust The Pest Detective?

14 years serving the Jacksonville area and going strong. We perform more WDO’s annually than most companies in this State with the least number of complaints. We stand by our work with a 100% money back guarantee. We always take care of any WDO, pest control or termite issues where the customer is always satisfied.

Why can’t I just have the home inspector do the WDO?

First of all, understand that there is no such thing as a “licensed home inspector”. This industry is not regulated in the State of Florida and anyone can start a home inspection business. “ASHI” certified simply means a home inspector pays the dues for membership into the home inspection club. It does not mean they are licensed. Second, the home inspectors that decide to do WDO’s are normally using a license from an out-of-town pest control company. They aren’t normally as experienced in this field as our team of inspectors. We have, combined, over 50 years of nothing but WDO experience. And we are licensed! You can check each inspector’s experience and whether or not they are simply circumventing the laws by where their I.D. card is being issued. Call us and we can provide all the necessary tools and websites to allow you to become fully informed because you owe this to your clients and your business. Buyers beware!!

We also partner with several local home inspection companies that The Pest Detective has had great results with. Give us a call and we will be happy to provide a list to you.
