About The Pest Detective

I started in the pest control industry after six years of Navy submarine intelligence service in Homestead, Florida. I was hired by a small local company to help increase/build the termite business by visiting and meeting local realtors and offering termite inspections for new home buyers (Wood-Destroying Organism {WDO} inspections). My territory included from Miami down to the middle Florida Keys area. This is relevant because ALL I have EVER done in this business is provide this service to real estate agents and their clients. Later I moved to Jacksonville and was hired by a National company to build this same type of business in the local market.

Working with both South and North Florida and their differing types of wood destroying pests gave me the experience that very few, if any, people have. That coupled with my history of working with realtors and experiencing every imaginable scenario with regards to real estate transactions. In March 1995, I decided it was to time to start my own business, and created and trademarked The Pest Detective, Inc.

I have spent 17 years doing nothing but WDO inspections, daily and understand why there are specific laws on this particular subject. I provide an unparalleled professionally completed inspection, and am also well versed when it comes time to explain to their clients, both buyers and sellers, not only what/where/why but most importantly HOW to remedy any situation that arises from an inspection. I can alleviate any anxiety with regards to eradicating any WDO by providing excellent treatments and can back it up because I am still around after 16+ years.

Through my experience, I've learned that the latest trend for realtors/buyers is to use a home inspection company that provides a one-stop-shop home and WDO inspection. These companies have figured out a loophole to circumvent Florida Statutes and provide these inspections, but they aren't LICENSED to do so and won't know how the bugs got there or how to eradicate them. These "home inspectors" rent their ID cards from a licensed pest control operator without proper experience, training or licensing. You end up with a very inexperienced WDO inspector simply because the home inspector is providing a convenience to the realtor. This convenience will eventually cost you headaches and possible lawsuits down the road.

The Pest Detective is one of the few pest control companies that has had no lawsuits or complaints with the State Of Florida, even after 100,000 inspections. Completing so many of these highly volatile and liable inspections only shows that my experience and knowledge is second to none, especially when it comes to WDO inspections. I would like to think this is why we are celebrating seventeen years of being a successful, honest business, where integrity really does mean something.
